Nutley Sees 3 Car Crashes In 3 Days, Including Pedestrian Strike

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley recently saw three vehicle crashes – including a pedestrian strike – in the span of three days, authorities say.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers responded to the northern end of Franklin Avenue on Sept. 25 after a car hit a person.

Police said the driver was backing up and struck a pedestrian, who fell and struck her head. She was transported to a nearby hospital for her injuries.

Nutley police released the following statements about two other vehicle-related incidents in the township:

Sept. 26 – Police, fire and rescue units responded to Route 21 South at 9:54 a.m. after a two-car motor vehicle accident. The two vehicles sustained heavy damage, and both lost control of the roadway, hitting the guardrail. One driver needed to be extricated from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. The driver of Vehicle 1 and passenger of Vehicle 2 were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sept. 27 – Police responded to River Road when a motorist collided with a utility pole. Police found a 2015 Toyota driven by a 57-year-old Kearny man that sustained heavy vehicle damage with multiple airbag deployment. The driver refused medical attention. The vehicle was towed and PSE&G responded to fix the damaged pole.
