NJ Sub Teacher Accused Of Masturbating In Class – Twice

NUTLEY, NJ — A substitute teacher in Nutley accused of masturbating in class near students on two separate occasions is no longer employed with the district, officials said Thursday.

Richard Dunn, 58, of Nutley, allegedly “masturbated in the classroom” on Feb. 1, which was captured on video by a student, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in connection with that incident, police said.

Dunn was also accused of masturbating in class again last week, which several students witnessed and reported to school administrators, charging documents state. He was charged with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and one count of lewdness, authorities said.

Police arrested Dunn on Tuesday without incident. He was taken to Nutley police headquarters for processing and detained at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, authorities said.

A spokesperson for the Nutley Public School District told Patch that Dunn is no longer employed there, and he won’t be eligible to work in the district in the future.

“The district will provide counseling and support services for students and staff, as needed,” the spokesperson added.
