Nutley Washing Machine ‘Obliterated’ In Explosion: Police
A washing machine went KABOOM in Nutley, police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — A washing machine exploded in a Nutley home earlier this month, sending shrapnel flying throughout the basement. Although the machine was “obliterated” and the area around the explosion damaged, nobody was injured in the freak accident, authorities said.
According to the Nutley Police Department, the incident took place on Aug. 12, when an East Centre Street resident heard a loud “bang” in the basement. When the homeowner went downstairs to see what happened, they saw that their washing machine had exploded.
The blast sent shrapnel flying throughout the area. The machine suffered heavy structural damage and was obliterated. The ceiling was also damaged in the explosion, police said.
