Nutley Woman Taken By Lottery Scam: Police
The Nutley woman was promised $10,000 if she would help an "undocumented immigrant" cash a "winning" lottery ticket, police say.

Nutley, NJ – A Nutley woman was victimized by a pair of alleged scammers last week in a lottery ticket-related scheme, losing money, jewelry and her cell phone, authorities say.
According to the Nutley Police Department, a township resident reported that while she was in West New York, a 25 to 30-year-old female approached her with a plea for assistance.
The Nutley resident told police that the woman said she was an undocumented immigrant with a winning lottery ticket. The suspect then asked the resident if she would help her cash the ticket, promising her $10,000 payment in return, police said.

They all proceeded to travel to the victim’s bank on Franklin Avenue and more cash was withdrawn, police stated.
The suspects then allegedly drove off with the money and the victim's cell phone, which was left in the vehicle, police stated.
Officers performed a canvas of the neighborhood in an attempt to locate any witnesses, and also contacted the West New York Police Department, who stated this was a relatively frequent “method of operation” in their jurisdiction, Nutley police said.
