Skimming Device Found On ATM At Nutley Bank: Police
A customer came across a "suspicious attachment" on an ATM. Here's what Nutley police have to say about it.
NUTLEY, NJ — A “skimming” device used for stealing private data was recently found attached to an ATM at a bank in Nutley, authorities announced Friday.
The Nutley Police Department released the following statement about the skimming device, which was found at the Capitol One location on Franklin Avenue:
“Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are alerting residents that police have recovered a skimming device located on one of our township ATMs. Bank personnel at the Franklin Avenue Capitol One were notified by a customer of a suspicious attachment to the ATM. When police arrived, they took possession of the device.”
Petracco said it is possible that police seized the device before the thieves obtained personal information from any potential victims.
