Snow In Belleville-Nutley Weather Forecast; Storm Watch In Effect

UPDATED: Say it 'aint snow. Here's the local weather forecast for the week in Nutley and Belleville.

BELLEVILLE-NUTLEY, NJ — Say it ‘aint snow, Belleville and Nutley.

Significant changes to this week’s winter storm forecast in New Jersey now include predictions of widespread heavy snowfall, coastal flooding and fierce winds capable of causing power outages, forecasters say.

Between 8 to 12 inches of snowfall is possible in North Jersey and 1 to 3 inches are possible in Central Jersey during Tuesday's overnight storm, the National Weather Service said. Read More: Foot Of Snow Possible As Winter Storm Targets NJ

A Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Belleville and Nutley area until Tuesday afternoon.

Public schools in both towns will be closed on Tuesday due to the forecast.

BELLEVILLE

"If all possible stay home and off local roads," Belleville township officials advised.

Belleville officials reminded local residents not to shovel show into the streets, and asked them to help clear an entry port for fire hydrants in their neighborhood.

"Preparation is key to staying safe during a snowstorm," officials said, sharing a list of safety tips for local residents.

NUTLEY

In Nutley, recycling and garbage pickups for Tuesday, Feb. 13 have been suspended.

"All Parks and Recreation activities are currently still on as scheduled and an announcement will be made as the storm progresses," township officials wrote in an advisory.

LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

According to the National Weather Service forecast (as of Monday morning), here’s what is expected in the Belleville-Nutley area this week:

Monday Night: Rain after 11pm, mixing with snow after 5am. Low around 32. Light and variable wind becoming northeast 6 to 11 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday: Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 8am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 36. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 22 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24. Blustery.

Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 39.

Thursday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
