WATCH: Belleville Fire Renders Residents Homeless Two Weeks Before Thanksgiving

"Human behavior issues" may have caused the blaze, Belleville's fire chief says.

A fire on Union Avenue in Belleville around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 13 caused severe damage to a multi-family home and displaced several residents two weeks before Thanksgiving, authorities reported.

The blaze - which took place around 2:30 a.m. - appears to be an “accidental fire” caused by “human behavior issues,” Belleville Fire Chief Robert Caruso told Patch.

Caruso declined to comment further on the cause of the fire.

The fire caused severe damage to the 3rd floor of the structure, and the lower levels also suffered some smoke and water damage, Caruso said.

No injuries were reported, but the blaze displaced all of the building’s residents, according to Caruso.
