2 Berkeley Police Captains Retire

After serving Berkeley for more than 30 years, both Captain Philip Smith and Captain George Dohn have retired.

BERKELEY, NJ — Two Berkeley Township Police Departments are heading off on a new mission: retirement.

Both Captain Philip Smith and Captain George Dohn recently retired, the Berkeley Township Police Department shared on behalf of Mayor Carmen Amato and Chief Kevin Santucci.

"Each honorably served the residents of Berkeley Township for over 30 years," they shared in a Facebook post. "Their selfless dedication to this town did not go unnoticed."

"We give a special thank you to their families for supporting them throughout their career," the police department wrote.

Dohn began his career with the Ocean Gate Police Department before joining Berkeley Township PD in 1995, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office wrote in their own Facebook post honoring him.

"Thank you Captain Dohn for a lifetime of public service!" the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
