2 Intoxicated Berkeley Drivers Hit Cars, Flee Scenes: Police

Two Bayville men were charged in separate incidents with driving while intoxicated.

BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley police investigated two separate hit-and-run incidents this month, which each resulted in charges of driving while intoxicated. Both drivers hit another vehicle and fled the scene, police said.

In the most recent incident, police investigated a hit-and-run Feb. 13 around 521 Route 9. A driver hit a parked car and kept going until police pulled him over, authorities said.

Eric Olsen, 43, of Bayville, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Officials processed and released Olsen before taking him to Community Medical Center for medical attention.

Police responded to another hit-and-run Feb. 8 by Browning Avenue. Authorities found debris, which led to Vincent Hess's vehicle.

Hess, 62, of Bayville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident. He was released pending a future court date.
