2 Teens Hospitalized After Tow Truck Crash In Berkeley: Police
The teen driver unsafely entered an intersection and she and her passenger were struck by a flatbed truck, police said.

BERKELEY, NJ — Two were hospitalized after a teenage driver unsafely entered an intersection and was struck by a tow truck, Berkeley police said.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Eastern Boulevard, according to police. A 17-year-old driving a red PT Cruiser was hit by an Accurate Towing flatbed truck, police said.
According to preliminary investigation, including reviewing footage of the crash, the PT Cruiser "unsafely" entered the stop sign-controlled intersection, police said. The truck, heading eastbound on Veterans Boulevard, crashed into the car, police said.

The driver was airlifted and her juvenile passenger was taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore Medical Center. Both were in stable condition as of late Friday, police said.
The crash is still under investigation by Traffic Safety Officer Shane Leighton. Anyone with information is asked to call the Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-341-1132 ext. 2125.
