4 Berkeley Restaurants To Be Approved For Outdoor Dining

Berkeley has a few more options for outdoor dining as New Jersey reduces its coronavirus restrictions.

BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley has a few more options for outdoor dining as New Jersey reduces its coronavirus restrictions.

Governor Phil Murphy lifted his ban on outdoor dining Monday. In preparation, Berkeley Township eased the process for restaurants to apply for outdoor seating. Read more: Berkeley Offers Outdoor 'Café Permits' To Restaurants

The township accepted outdoor-dining applications from two South Seaside Park restaurants, according to Clerk Beverly M. Carle: Ebby's Risorante and Lounge, as well as Bum Rogers Crab House & Tavern.

Shady Rest Restaurant and C&G's Country Cafe will get their outdoor "café permit" applications approved Monday, says Mayor Carmen Amato.

Berkeley Township Council passed a resolution last month for a temporary expedited review process to allow restaurants to create seating outside. Restaurants with outdoor seating who don't wish to change their setup don't need to apply.

Interested businesses can apply for the permits, which the township clerk will forward to the appropriate inspection office and departments. Upon review, inspectors and officials will forward recommendations to the clerk.

The township administrator will review the recommendations and make a determination. Berkeley will return to its normal process of approving such changes once the state of emergency is lifted.

Berkeley Township Council held a special meeting Friday to waive or refund application fees.
