Restrictions Set At Island Beach State Park Ahead Of Boat Party

BERKELEY, NJ — Restrictions will be in place at Island Beach State Park as a boat and float party is set to take place this weekend.

"FloatShoalla" is returning for its third year on July 25 and 26. The annual event boasts that it's "the biggest boat party on the Jersey Shore."

It takes place at Tices Shoal, a popular sandbar and anchorage.

Island Beach State Park officials noted that the park is not an access for Tices Shoal.

"Do not expect to be dropped off from IBSP as floats are not allowed in the park," the park wrote on social media.

Parking lots six, seven and eight near Fisherman's Walkway at Tices Shoal will also be closed this weekend.

Earlier this summer, Island Beach State Park introduced a fee for boaters entering the park from Tices Shoal.

FloatShoalla was preceded by Floats and Boats, an annual event that was canceled after two people were injured during the 2023 event.

The new event issued a safety reminder to attendees, noting that there will be an increased presence of law enforcement officials.

Rules include no drinking and operating a boat, make sure your boat is legal, be courteous on the water, clean up after yourself and take care of yourself.
