The Bayville cancer survivors, treated through RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute, led game day festivities, received an on-field ovation with their families, and will be permanently honored in a Rutgers Athletics facility.
2. $2 Million-Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Bayville (patch.com) — A $2 million Mega Millions ticket was sold at Country Food Market on Route 9 in Bayville, right in Berkeley Township, making one Ocean County player very lucky. The ticket matched all five white balls and benefited from a 2X multiplier, a newer feature that doubled the usual $1 million prize. The jackpot itself rolls to $364 million for Friday's drawing.
3. Ocean County Adds Nearly 90 Acres To Preserved Land (jerseyshoreonline.com) — Ocean County is preserving a 1.22-acre parcel in Berkeley Township near Route 9, between areas tied to the former Blackbeard's Cave, potentially expanding local trails that link to the Barnegat Branch Trail. The move is part of nearly 90 acres of new preserved land countywide. Voters will also decide in November whether to increase the county's open space tax to support future purchases and maintenance.
4. Insider NJ's Morning Intelligence Briefing: 10/7/2026 (insidernj.com) — A statewide political briefing notes that a firefighter monument in Berkeley was recently vandalized, drawing attention to a troubling incident close to home. While details are sparse here, the mention signals an issue of respect and public safety in the township.
