Bayville Man Rescued After Kayak Tips Over Off Sandlewood Drive

Employees from Trixie's Marina, first responders were able to get Shane Good out of the water, police chief says.

A Bayville man was pulled from the waters off Sandlewood Drive in the Glen Cove section of Bayville early Friday evening after his kayak tipped over, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Sandlewood Drive residents called police at 6 p.m. after they heard someone calling for help from the water, the chief said.

Shane Goode, 28, Rosewood Drive, was unable to right his kayak after it tipped over. Berkeley police and the Bayville Fire Department responded. The first responders were able to pull Goode from the water with help from employees at Trixie's Marina, DiMichele said.

Goode was taken to the marina, where he was treated and then transported to Community Medical Center by the Bayville First Aid Squad, the chief said.
