Bayville Tow Truck Driver Revived At Crash Site By Manchester PD
A Bayville tow truck driver was responding to a crash when he collapsed in the street, authorities said.
BERKELEY, NJ — A Bayville tow truck driver's life was saved by Manchester Police after he collapsed while removing vehicles after a crash on Route 571 last week.
Freedom Towing driver, 61-year-old John Macchia, was clearing debris and loading the cars for transportation when he collapsed in the roadway, according to Manchester Police Capt. Vincent Manco.
Patrolmen Michael Steffen, Kyle Rickvalsky, Brendan Brush and Julian Meaney determined that Macchia was unconscious, not breathing and had no pulse. They initiated CPR and used an AED until Manchester Township Emergency Medical Service personnel and RWJ Barnabus Paramedics arrived, Manco said.

Manco said that Macchia was taken to Community Medical Center, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
The crash happened at about 10:40 p.m. on March 10 at Route 571 at Beacon Street.

Caren Mcaleese, 54, of Manchester was driving west on Route 571 in a white Nissan Altima when she tried to turn left onto Beacon Street, and turned into the path of a silver Hyundai Sonata driven by Stephanie Bellotti, 25, of Manchester, who was headed east on Route 571, Manco said. The front ends of the cars collided.
Mcaleese suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center, and Bellotti suffered no injuries, Manco said.
