BERKELEY, NJ — It's almost time for days spent in the sun and toes dipped in the sand. Summer is around the corner and beach days are coming in Berkeley.

According to the Berkeley Township website, White Sands Beach in South Seaside Park will be staffed with lifeguards daily starting June 17 (right now it's guarded on weekends only). Guards are on duty 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You need a beach badge to visit this oceanfront beach, and the price of those has gone up this year: a daily badge is $13, while weekly costs $50 and seasonal costs $60. Seniors get a respite, though. Those 65 and older can get a seasonal badge for $15, or a lifetime badge for $20.

Those who need to buy a beach badge can do so from 20th to 23rd avenues in South Seaside Park from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. No credit cards are accepted.

If you're looking for something other than the ocean, lifeguards will be at Dudley Park and Amherst Beach daily starting June 17. Dudley Park has a shallow bathing beach at Cedar Creek, while Amherst Beach is on Barnegat Bay. These do not require badges.
