Berkeley Driver Flees After Hitting Parked Car, Pole: Police
The man went home and then refused to submit a breath sample when police found him, according to authorities.
BERKELEY, NJ — A Berkeley driver struck a parked car and utility pole before fleeing home on foot, police said. Christopher Mariella refused to submit a breath sample after police found him, according to authorities.
The incident took place at 1st Avenue and Seventh Street in the early-morning hours Monday, police said. The crash caused a local power outage. Utility workers were on scene to repair the pole and wires.
Mariella, 36, left the scene and went to his 2nd Avenue home, according to police. He was charged with refusal to submit a breath sample and released on a summons.
