Berkeley Officials: Voluntary Evacuations For Waterfront Residents
No shelters available, try and stay with family and friends.
Berkeley Township officials are recommending a voluntary evacuation for residents who live east of Bayview Avenue along the Barnegat Bay and lagoons, Pelican Island and South Seaside Park.
The evacuation is recommended because of possible moderate to major flooding, high wind, elevated tides and a full moon.
“If the residents choose not to evacuate, we recommend that residents east of Bayview Ave along the Barnegat Bay and lagoons, Pelican Island, and South Seaside Park move their vehicles to higher ground,” according to an Office of Emergency Management statement.

Residents can park their vehicles in front of the Central Regional Middle School in Bayville.
“Please make arrangements with family or friends if you choose to evacuate,” the OEM says. “Also, please ensure that all exterior furniture and other items are tied down or stored so that they do not become projectiles during the high winds.”
