Berkeley Police Arrest Juvenile For Two Bayville Burglaries

Burglaries occurred on unoccupied homes on Egenolf Avenue and Cedar Run Road, police chief said.

Berkeley Township police recently arrested a juvenile after an investigation into two separate burglaries in Bayville over Thanksgiving weekend, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

The first burglary took place at an unoccupied home on Egenolf Avenue and was reported on Nov. 28. The suspect forced entry into the home and took jewelry, the chief said.

The second burglary occurred at an unoccupied home on Cedar Run Road and was reported on Nov. 30. The suspect also forced entry into the home and a firearm and electronics were reported stolen, DiMichele said.

Berkeley detectives conducted an ”intense” investigation and were able to identify the juvenile as responsible for both burglaries, the chief said.

This lead to the execution of a search warrant in the early morning hours of Dec. 2 to a home on Princeton Avenue in Bayville. Proceeds, including the firearm were recovered as a result of the search warrant.

The juvenile suspect - whose name cannot be released - as later taken into custody by Berkeley detectives. Juvenile charges are pending. Detective Bill Somers was the lead investigator. The Brick Township police department and detective bureau assisted in the investigation, DiMichele said.
