Berkeley Police Department Welcomes 2 New Officers

BERKELEY, N.J. — The Berkeley Township Police Department has two new officers. Special Officers Kyle Wardell and Kyle Slocum graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy on Thursday.

A new class of officers graduated Thursday morning on the Campus of Georgian Court University in Lakewood.

"They will now be held to the highest standards of society and will see and do things that most people couldn’t imagine," the Berkeley Township Police Department wrote on Facebook. "They will be faced with danger and adversity, life and death.

"Through this they must remember that no matter what this job throws at them, an officer must always have the utmost integrity, exhibit selflessness and they must never lose compassion for the community and the citizens that they serve. They must always maintain their professionalism and never forget that this is not just a job, it is a career and that they bare the burden for its future."
