Berkeley Woman Forged Prescriptions From Stolen Pads: Police
Candace Colbert, 60, took the prescription blanks from her employer and passed the fraudulent forms at Toms River pharmacies, police said.
BERKELEY, NJ — A Berkeley woman who worked at a Brick doctor's office was charged with fraud and forgery after stealing blank prescription pads from her employer and using them to pick up drugs from Toms River pharmacies, police said.
Candace Colbert, 60, was charged Friday after a search warrant was executed on her home, Brick police said.
Colbert is accused of stealing the pads from her employer dating back to March 2022, forging prescriptions and fraudulently passing 36 of them at Toms River pharmacies, police said. Neither the doctor's office nor the pharmacies were identified.

She was charged with the following: possession of crack cocaine, possession of heroin, intent to distribute crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, obstructing administration of law, possession of prescription legend drugs, obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, forgery by writing, theft of movable property and practice of medicine by unlicensed person.
Colbert was processed at Brick Police Headquarters and released on a summons.
