BREAKING: Neighborhood Evacuated After House Crash, Gas Leak

Numerous emergency management agencies on the scene, motorists asked to avoid the area.

Emergency officials have evacuated the area around Jamaica Boulevard in Holiday City, after a driver struck a house and a gas line, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

The female driver was attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle when her vehicle went off the roadway and hit the house and gas line, the chief said.

“The immediate area is evacuated and waiting for gas to dissipate,” DiMichele said.

The driver was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River. Township fire departments, first aid squads, the township construction department, New Jersey Natural Gas and Jersey Central Power and Light are on the scene, the chief said.
