Central Regional Student Charged With Creating A False Public Alarm
Student pulled alarm, which resulted in high school evacuation, emergency units to respond, police said.

Berkeley Township police arrested a 17-year-old Central Regional High School student recently for intentionally activating a fire alarm at the school, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.
Lieutenant Philip Smith and Patrolman Patrick Stesner responded to the high school on Forest Hills Parkway in Bayville at 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 6.
When they arrived, they were met by Dr. Douglas Corbett, the high school principal. He told them that the student activated the alarm for “illegitimate“ reasons, creating a false public alarm, the chief said.

Multiple police units and the Bayville Fire Company rushed to the scene. High school students and staff involved in extracurricular activities had to be evacuated. The student’s parents were notified and the student was arrested and take to police headquarters, where he was charged, DiMichele said.
