Charles A. Rose, World War II Navy Veteran, Sheriff's Officer, Dies At 90

Services for Berkeley Township man slated for Thursday


Charles A. Rose, 90, of Holiday City Carefree in Berkeley Township passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at home.

Born in Paterson, he lived in Passaic,before moving to Berkeley Township. 35 years ago. Charles was a Sheriff’s Officer for the Passaic Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Rose was a US Navy WWII Veteran, attaining the rank of Fire Controlman First Class. Charles was a life member and past Commander of the VFW Post 7165, Clifton, NJ, Past President of the Police Benevolent Association for 2 years and was a member of the Police & Fireman’s Association, Brick, NJ.

He was predeceased by his son, Charles A. Rose, in 1974.

Charles is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lenora (nee Reimer); two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald R. and Robin Rose of Medford Lakes, and Robert A. and Jill Rose of Highland Lakes, five grandchildren, Derek Rose, Richard Rose, Eric Peine, Nicholas Tierney, Jonathan Tierney and his wife Sue; and one great-grandchild, John Tierney.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 2 until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
