Cops: Bayville Man Charged With Burglary, Making Terroristic Threats

Peter Brown Jr. also charged with resisting arrest, police chief says.

Berkeley police recently arrested a Bittern Lane man after responding to a report of a suspicious male, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Officers responded to the Sylvan Lakes neighborhood at 8 a.m. on Feb. 10. Residents told them the man threatened to harm them before he fled, the chief said.

Patrolman John Houghkirk spotted the man in the area. When police attempted to approach Peter Brown, Jr., he fled on foot.

Patrolman Rodney Flanagan, Sgt. Frank Bruno and Sgt. Damon Papa also responded and found Brown behind a home on Widgeon Drive, DiMichele said.

“While investigating this incident, a separate resident on Sylvan Lakes Blvd reported that their motor vehicle was unlawfully entered,” the chief said.

Police arrested Brown and charged him with resisting arrest, terroristic threats and burglary. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of bail, the chief said.

More charges are expected as more victims of motor vehicle burglaries come forward, she said.
