Couple Accused In Berkeley Burglaries Facing More Charges

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- A Brick Township couple is facing additional burglary charges after they were linked to a series of burglaries in the Greenbriar Woodlands community, Toms River police said.

James Donegan, 37, and Amiko Huggins-Donegan, 35, of Ebb Tide Drive, have been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and two counts of criminal mischief in connection with burglaries in Greenbriar Woodlands, said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.

Those charges are in addition to ones filed against them when they were arrested Feb. 11 at Drum Point Plaza in Brick in connection with burglaries at a Berkeley Township retirement community.

The Greenbriar Woodlands investigation began in November, Stocco said. In each case, entry was forced into unoccupied homes during the daytime and jewelry, cash, and other valuable items were stolen, he said.

The investigation became part of a months-long cooperative effort among police from Toms River, Brick Township, Berkeley Township, Ocean Gate and Lacey Township into multiple residential burglaries in retirement communities, Stocco said.

Aa result of a search warrant executed by the Berkeley Township Police Department into their Brick home, evidence relating to the burglaries was seized including their vehicle which was used in the commission of the crimes, he said.

The Donegans, who have been at the Ocean County Jail since their Feb. 11 arrest, have an additional bail of $150,000 each set by Toms River Municipal Court, Stocco said.

This investigation is continuing and more charges are expected as evidence is being identified, he said.
