CRHS Students Visit JBJ Soul Kitchen
Several students accompanied Ms. Mangold and Mrs. Wyman to JBJ Soul Kitchen to develop a video and film documentary.
On March 9th Ms. Mangold and Mrs. Wyman accompanied by a handful of students visited the JBJ Soul Kitchen to develop a video and photo documentary. JBJ Soul kitchen is a non-profit organization with a manifesto that paints a clear picture of what they stand for: “All are welcome at our table,” and “Where there is love there is plenty,” as well as “Friendship is our daily special,” to name a few quotes of their manifesto. The organization operates on either volunteering to pay for your meal and four others, or if you are able: paying the minimum donation, or a little more if you’re able to pay it forward to those who need it. Quite simply patrons are given the opportunity to pay-it-forward on a scale bigger and more effectively than just a line of starbucks customers paying for the people behind them. This organization provides opportunity for everyone who enters whether it be a warm meal for an hour of volunteering or paying for someone who otherwise couldn’t. No one could put it better than Ms. Mangold and Mrs. Mangold themselves who responded, “What an amazing experience for a wonderful cause,” and “Amazing nonprofit concept; instead of a hand out it is a hand up!” respectively
