National Prescription Take Back Day: Where To Drop Yours In Berkeley
April 30 is National Prescription Take Back Day. Here's where you can dispose of your unwanted meds in Berkeley.
BERKELEY, NJ — Mayor Carmen Amato and the Berkeley Township Police Department have announced their participation in the DEA National Prescription Take Back Day on April 30. Berkeley residents will be able to dispose of unused or unwanted prescription medications in a safe way.
Three locations are offered for Berkeley residents. All will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Berkeley Township Recreation - Rt. 9 Bayville
- Holiday City South Clubhouse - Mule Rd. and Santiago
- Barrier Island Complex - Rt. 35 South Seaside Park
Participants can dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication and placing it into the disposal box. Intravenous solutions, syringes and injectables will not be accepted.

The purpose of Prescription Take Back Day is to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from starting, according to DEA. For more information and other collection sites, visit DEA here.
