Elderly Woman Burned, Airlifted From Pine Beach House Fire

The woman suffered burns on her face and upper body.

PINE BEACH, NJ — An elderly woman suffered burns during a Pine Beach house fire Wednesday. The victim sustained burns on her face and upper body before she was airlifted to the St. Barnabas Burn Center.

The fire took place at noon in the 500 block of Radnor Avenue. Before firefighters arrived, bystanders rescued the woman from her vehicle.

Officials tried extinguishing the fire from the inside, but the roof began to collapse. They controlled the fire in about an hour, and no one else was hurt.

Photos from the Pine Beach Fire Company showed the roof and much of the home destroyed. The cause of the fire wasn't immediately clear.

Responding agencies included Pine Beach Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Bayville Volunteer Fire Department, South Toms River EMS, Berkeley EMS and Beachwood EMS. The Ocean Gate Fire Department set up a landing zone, and the Manitour Park Volunteer Fire Company covered for the other agencies.

The Pine Beach Fire Company also thanked 7-Eleven in Pine Beach for donating water and Gatorade, and to local residents who donated a large amount of food to officials at the scene.
