Fire Damages 2-Story Home In Berkeley

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said.

BERKELEY, NJ — A fire damaged a two-story home on Cranmer Road Thursday, but there were no injuries, fire personnel said.

Bayville Volunteer Fire Company 1 responded to the fire reported at 8:24 p.m., according to a post on the fire company's Facebook page.

Fire Chief John McKay and Assistant Chief James Sperber found heavy flames coming from the home and arriving firefighters including Engine 1731, Ladder 1725, Rescue 1713, Engine 1741, Utility 1724 began fighting the fire, the fire company said.

The Bayville Fire Drone Unit assisted, providing real-time aerial information and thermal readings inside the house, the fire company said. (See photos from the drone here.)

The fire is under investigation by Berkeley Township and the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office.
