OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Now that Halloween has come and gone, you may have leftover pumpkins sitting on your front porch steps. Instead of leaving them to rot, several farms and other spots in Ocean County are accepting them as donations.

The county has set up several drives for not only pumpkins, but straw and corn stalks, too. You can drop them off 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 1 through 3 at the following locations:

  • Cloverdale Farm County Park (Barnegat)
  • Save Barnegat Bay (Haines Road, Toms River)
  • Island Heights Public Works (Corner of Lake and Laurel Avenue)

Pumpkins, corn, hay, straw or extra vegetables can be brought to Charlotte Farms Animal Sanctuary, located at 182 Mill Creek Road, Bayville. If the farm isn't open, a donation box is available outside of the gate.

Pumpkins that are unpainted and uncarved can be brought to Out of Sight Alpacas (416 Wells Mills Road, Waretown) or Pink Pines Farm & Rescue (437 Veterans Blvd., Bayville). Out of Sight Alpacas has a bin on the driveway if the gate is closed.
