BERKELEY, NJ — Police are seeking the driver of a truck who struck a utility pole on Route 9 Saturday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m. on March 25, Berkeley police responded to the parking lot of 657 Route 9 for a hit-and-run.

The caller reported that a dark gray pickup truck, apparently a 2008-2012 Ford F150 Super cab, hit a utility pole there, damaging the front driver's side of the bumper, police said.

The driver then sped away northbound on Route 9, according to police.

Police used CCTV to corroborate the information, police said. Jersey Central Power and Light advised that the pole would need to be replaced.

At the time of the incident there were no significant disruptions in traffic, although it is expected that it will cause traffic delays during the duration of the pole being replaced, police said.

The investigating officer is Patrolman Murawski and charges are expected if the driver and vehicle can be identified.
