'Hold On I'm Coming' Founder To Speak At Berkeley Library

Central Regional's Mark Haug founded "Hold On I'm Coming" to help people in distress after Superstorm Sandy.

BERKELEY, NJ — Superstorm Sandy destroyed a lot, but it also inspired hope. Learn all about it from the founder of "Hold On I'm Coming," a nonprofit dedicated to helping those in distress, at the Ocean County Library Berkeley Branch on May 7.

Mark Haug, a teacher at Central Regional High School and Ocean Gate councilman, will present “Stories of Disaster Relief from Superstorm Sandy to Today” at 6 p.m. on May 7 at the library.

Haug founded "Hold On I'm Coming" after his house was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy, according to a library news release.

As he cleared the wreckage, it was the companionship of neighbors that left an impression on Haug, the release said. He was inspired to pay it forward and help others in need.

Since then, Haug has traveled to natural disaster sites in New Jersey and as far away as Kentucky and Florida to dispense free food, drinks and supplies and to bring a helping hand and a willing ear to traumatized victims amid the wreckage.

HOIC runs entirely on sponsorships, donations and volunteers and accepts help through its website and GoFundMe. Following his discussion, Haug will engage attendees in a question-and-answer session.
