Jackson Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Saturday Shooting

Details still sketchy about when and where the shooting occurred, bail set at $500,000.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a Jackson man with attempted murder in connection with a Saturday shooting, a spokesman said.

Jackson police took Tyshaun M. Jackson, 23, aka ”Bailey” Jackson into custody on Sunday. Jackson was found at his 406 Willow Point Drive residence.

The victim, Waymon P. Young, 39, drove himself to Community Medical Center in Toms River with a gunshot wound to the upper chest, spokesman Al Della Fave has said.

Jackson is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and certain persons not to possess a weapon. He is lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bail, Della Fave said.

“The investigation is continuing into the full circumstances regarding the shooting,” he said.

Young arrived at the hospital driving a 2014 red Chevy Cruze with Maryland plates. Young entered the hospital and collapsed. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his upper chest, then airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he is listed in critical but stable condition, Della Fave said.

Law enforcement authorities tried to question Young at Community, but he provided “limited information,” Della Fave said.

“Surveillance video showed Young arrived at the hospital alone,” he said.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and the Berkeley and Toms River police departments participated in the investigation.
