Cases

The Ocean County Health Department has reported 68 positive cases in Berkeley as of Wednesday morning. The OCHD will provide daily updates here.

People with the coronavirus also might not show symptoms, according to the Center for Disease Control. With limited testing available nationwide, it is also difficult to gauge the true number of people with the virus.

Testing

Luckily for Ocean County residents, testing has become more accessible locally.

County officials opened a drive-thru testing site Monday at Ocean County College. On the first day, 166 people got tested, including 40 health-care workers and first responders.

Residents must schedule appointments before arriving and meet the following requirements:

  • You must be an Ocean County resident and have identification.
  • You must have a physician's prescription
  • You must make an online appointment at www.ochd.org.
  • You must be symptomatic.
  • You should enter the Ocean County College campus from the Hooper Avenue entrance.

Restrictions and Updates

Schools

The Central Regional School District developed a new protocol to increase attendance. It will go into effect Monday.

"Looking at our data, daily attendance has not been adequate," wrote Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides. "However, we know many of our students are keeping up with their work."
