Longtime Former Central Regional Board Member Takes Opponents To Task In Letter To Editor

Denise Pavone-Wilson says it is legal for her to take a seat on the board while employed in Seaside Heights school district.

A Letter to the Editor from Denise Pavone-Wilson and Debra Matthews:

As candidates for the Central Regional Board of Education, Debra and I are strongly committed to serving our students and the community. If elected, we look forward to the opportunity to work hard on the projects and programs that we feature as our platform to the people and on our website at www.centralboe.com.

Prior to making the decision to run for the Central Regional Board of Education, I consulted first with my family since running a campaign and my volunteer time on the board are huge commitments that I take seriously. Having served on the board in the past, I understand the importance of being present at school functions, board committee meetings, and monthly board of education meetings and I have the full support of my family.

It is my understanding that several of our opposing candidates, Mr. George Dohn and Mr. Jason Mroczka, have put forth several mistruths regarding my ability to run and take a seat on the Board of Education because I work for the Seaside Heights School District, which shares services with Central Regional. Both men have even gone to the extreme to tell voters that I am running and if I win I will give my seat away to someone else. This is simply not true and I have been asked to set the record straight for voters.

I pledge to the residents of Berkeley Township that I am legally able to run and I will complete my full three-year term on the Central Regional Board of Education if elected. I wish to be your voice and representative on the school board and I would never give up my seat to anyone.

Both Debra and I will work hard to maintain a self-sustaining school district not dependent upon property taxes, provide progressive programs that focus on diverse education opportunities for all students, and continue on the momentum of the superintendent striving for excellence in education. It is unfortunate that these two gentlemen have spent their entire campaign slinging mud rather than talk about education issues.

Our students deserve board members that are there to support them to become successful and ready for life after high school. Debra Matthews and I have campaigned on our programs to help increase SAT scores, support our teachers to help make our students ready for college or equipped to obtain gainful employment in the workforce, and be globally prepared for world challenges in the future.

We both humbly ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, to be your voice on the Central Regional Board of Education. We are readily available to you if you are interested in learning more about each of us and our platform for education. Please feel free to visit our website at www.centralboe.com.
