Man Breaks Into Berkeley Home, Thinking He Was Chased: Police

A man who believed he was being chased by unknown persons broke into a Berkeley home Tuesday morning, police said. The man was likely under the influence of an intoxicant, according to the Berkeley Township Police Department.

Sean Sofield, 26, of Tuckerton, knocked on doors throughout the neighborhood in the area of Sloop Creek Drive and Lawrence Ave. at about 5:30 a.m., the BTPD said. Sofield entered an unlocked home and made it to the roof, where police apprehended him, according to the BTPD.

Sofield was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, the BTPD said. He was remanded to the Ocean County Jail, according to police.
