Man's Body Found In Field Behind Berkeley Plaza In Bayville

Law enforcement authorities have not released the name of a man found dead today in the field behind the Berkeley Plaza in Bayville, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Berkeley police officers responded to the field at 12:16 p.m. on Wednesday on a report an unresponsive man near the field. They discovered that the man was dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of kin, the chief said.

The preliminary investigation shows no signs of foul play, DiMichele said.

Berkeley Township police detectives, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department all assisted, the chief said.
