Expedited lab analysis on the initial fatal overdose has confirmed the presence of dangerous heroin and adulterants, according to the State Police.

The New Jersey State Police encourages anyone looking for information on preventing abuse, recognizing those at risk, and finding treatment go to the GCADA statewide awareness campaign: KnowAddiction.nj.gov.

New Jersey counties that have been especially affected include: Morris, Bergen and Passaic counties.
“We certainly don’t endorse drug use, but it is imperative that we release this important, possibly lifesaving information,” the State Police wrote on its Facebook page.
State officials have now identified at least four highly lethal brands of drugs that have been responsible for at least six overdose deaths.
Earlier this year, State Police said wax folds stamped “Power Hour,” “Taliban,” and “Strike Dead” have been found to contain a tainted heroin not typically seen in New Jersey. Narcan has been found to be ineffective in treating some of these drug brands.
