New Superintendent Takes Over At Central Regional
Michelle CarneyRay-Yoder is the Central Regional School District's superintendent as of Jan. 1.

BERKELEY, NJ — The new year is bringing forth a new era for the Central Regional School District, with a new superintendent as of Jan. 1.
Michelle CarneyRay-Yoder, coming to the district after nearly five years as superintendent of the Somers Point School District, was hired back in October after previous superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides resigned in the wake of controversy following the bullying and suicide of 14-year-old Adriana Kuch. CarneyRay-Yoder - students call her "Dr. Cry" - previously told Patch that she had a passion for school culture, and tries to create an environment where every member of the staff and faculty is on the same level.

The Board of Education reorganizes on Jan. 4, at which time John Serpica (Ocean Gate), Michael Graichen (Seaside Heights) and Joanne Penn (Seaside Park) will be sworn in for three-year terms.
