BERKELEY, NJ — The former superintendent of the Central Regional School District had his resignation approved at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting.

Triantafillos Parlapanides resigned last month as he faced outrage from sharing personal details of 14-year-old Adriana Kuch to the press.

But this resignation was brought into question at last month's meeting as it was revealed he was still being paid by the district and his resignation had not been on the agenda to be approved. Read more: Ex-Central Super Still On Payroll After Bullying Scandal Resignation

However, a resolution was adopted Tuesday night confirming the separation between Parlapanides and the Board.

As Parlapanides' contract was not up at the time of his resignation, it needed to be approved by the Commissioner of Education.

That approval only came earlier in the afternoon on March 14, the same day as the meeting.

While the separation was adopted effective immediately, his resignation, for purposes of retirement, goes into effect on May 1, 2023.

Douglas Corbett is still serving as acting superintendent as the Board begins the search for their new, permanent superintendent. The superintendent, like Parlapanides, will also serve as superintendent of the Seaside Heights School District.
