Proposed Rehab Center To Go Before Berkeley Zoning Board
The proposed detox and rehab center was tabled back at the November zoning board meeting.
BERKELEY, NJ — A proposal for a three-story detox and rehab facility will be heard by the Berkeley Township Zoning Board of Adjustment Wednesday.
The hearing was initially set for November, but was tabled as the plans were being changed.
At that time, the plan was for 82 rooms and 164 beds, according to public notice. A helicopter pad was also proposed. It's unclear if these elements will be in the new proposal.

Developers are seeking to build the three-story center on Tallwood Way, according to public notice. They need several variances as the property lies within the business zone, where these types are facilities are not permitted under Berkeley's zoning laws.
The developers of this property are the same as those behind the controversial 24-unit apartment complex also on Tallwood Way. When that proposal was initially approved, it split the property and created two new lots; the eastern lot will house the apartments, while the western lot is set for this rehab facility.
