Red Jeep Cherokee Sought In Toms River Hit-Run Accident

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- Toms River police are searching for a red mid-1990s Jeep Cherokee that hit a car parked in a resident’s driveway during the overnight hours Sunday.

The Jeep -- with a representative photo supplied by police included with this article -- should have extensive right side damage and will be needing repairs, said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.

“Based on pieces of the vehicle that were left behind at the crash scene we believe it to be a mid 1990s (94/95/96) red Jeep Cherokee,” he said.

“The vehicle should be missing or have a severely damaged front bumper. It will also be missing a door handle, broken out rear passenger side window, as well as passenger side damage,” Stocco said.

Some of the Jeep’s lights may have been spray-painted to achieve a “black out” look, he said.

The crash occurred on Oak Ridge Parkway just north of Oakside Drive, he said, when the Jeep slid off the road and into a driveway, hitting a 2013 Mazda that was parked in its own driveway.

Again, the photo included is of vehicle similar to the one that is suspected of being involved, Stocco said.
