Special Meeting Set For School Regionalization In Seaside Heights

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — A special Seaside Heights Board of Education meeting has been set for this week.

The meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8 at 8:20 a.m., according to a public notice. It will take place in the cafeteria of the Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School.

Also, the Board will be approving a resolution supporting the borough's regionalization efforts and will submit a petition to the Commissioner of Education to hold a referendum.

Later that same day, the Toms River Regional Board of Education has set a special meeting of their own, beginning with an executive session at 5 p.m. and a business session at 5:30 p.m. Read more: Toms River Regional School Board Sets Special Meeting

No agenda has been posted for Toms River's meeting as of Tuesday afternoon.

The 104-page study that outlined the impacts of the regionalization said the proposal offers "distinct educational advantages for both districts and no identifiable impact, much less a substantial negative impact, on Central Regional if the small number of students from Seaside Heights (is) phased out."
