BERKELEY, NJ — A Berkeley Township Elementary School student was honored by the Township Council for winning the VFW Post 9503 Patriots Pen contest.

Carleigh Corbin won first place in the contest from 226 entries, Post Commander Bill Dondero said. It is available for students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade.

She came in third place at the post level last year. "And because of her hard work, I would say she did a great job, because she won this year," Dondero said.
