Window Replacement Project Nears Completion At Central Regional

The $3.5 million project replaced windows and the wall, and now the rooms at the high school are more energy efficient.

BERKELEY, NJ — A $3.5 million window replacement project is nearing completion at Central Regional High School, school officials say.

The project began in April and is finishing up this week, the district's Business Administrator Kevin O'Shea told Patch. More than 90 percent of the project was funded by federal Covid funds.

It was unique because it wasn't just the windows that needed replacing, O'Shea said. Because of the window-wall system, the entire wall needed replacing, too. This also included heating and cooling units.

"The new windows are commercial grade with internal blinds so teachers can adjust how much sunlight they want to come into the rooms," O'Shea said. The rooms are also "far more energy efficient" than that previous ones.

This project had been planned for a long time, since the other half of the high school got new windows in 2012, O'Shea said. The bid for the project was awarded to Garozzo-Scimeca Construction of Williamstown in July of 2022.

The project provided new windows to 27 classrooms, the Guidance offices, The Auxiliary Gym, The Cafeteria, and several offices and hallways. The brand of window that was installed is Architectural Windows Manufacturing Corporation.
