📰 News we're reading

• Denied Wawa returns for Oct. 14 Voorhees Township hearing after lawsuit (nj.com subscription) — A long-disputed Wawa and gas station that would sit partly in Berlin Township is back before the Voorhees Planning Board on Oct. 14, after a prior denial and a lawsuit. Berlin's planners have already approved the project, but it cannot move forward unless Voorhees now grants final site plan approval for the busy Route 73 and Cooper Road intersection.

• Flock this: N.J. towns ditching controversial cameras — just to install another brand (nj.com subscription) — Berlin residents may notice growing activism around license plate reader cameras, including a recent DeFlock South Jersey protest outside the local Home Depot. The story tracks how towns across New Jersey are wrestling with Flock Safety cameras, with some dropping the brand, others expanding surveillance, and at least one township considering a temporary ban on new readers.
