The Affordable Care Act (ACA) takes effect in January 2014. By March 2014 all Americans will be required by law to have health insurance. The Somerset County Library System (SCLS) is hosting information and enrollment assistance services for individuals, families and small business owners at all ten branches through at least March 2014. The enrollment assistance programs are being offered cost free to all Somerset County residents. Partnering with CognoSante, on behalf of the US Department of Health, SCLS is offering this service to help local residents in obtaining the health care insurance coverage they will need.
Peapack & Gladstone Library will be hosting the navigators and sessions on the first Saturday and third Wednesday of the month from now through the end of March.
The exact dates and times are as follows:
Wednesday, December 19th 5:30pm-8:30pm
Saturday, January 4th 12-3pm
Wednesday, January 15th 5:30-8:30pm
Saturday, February 1st 12-3pm
Wednesday, February 19th 5:30-8:30pm
Saturday, March 1st 12-3pm
Wednesday, March 19th 5:30pm-8:30pm
Anyone who wishes to attend a session will work with a navigator from CognoSante who is trained and certified to help you understand your health coverage options and enroll you in a Marketplace plan. The sessions have been designed to accommodate walk-ins as well as those who wish to schedule an appointment beforehand and may take as little as 30 minutes.
Please note that anyone wishing to enroll during these sessions must come prepared with the documents and information listed here:
Current healthcare insurance (if applies) and policy numbers
Information about health care coverage available through current jobs
Social security numbers (or documentation for legal immigrants)
Household income
Employer and income information verification for every member of household requiring coverage (pay stubs or W-2 forms are acceptable)
For more information or to schedule an appointment at Peapack & Gladstone Library, you may contact Diane Hahn at dhahn@sclibnj.org or 908-234-0598 ext. 133. Sessions are also being held at the other branches of the Somerset County Library System through the end of March.
