Bernardsville Library to Screen "Chasing Coral"
Coral reefs are the nursery of life in oceans and the public has little idea of the scale of the catastrophe silently raging underwater.

Bernardsville Public Library, in partnership with the Bernardsville Green Team and Environmental Commission, invites the public to view "Chasing Coral," a movie documenting the decline of coral reefs around the world, on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00 pm.
Coral reefs are the nursery for all life in the oceans, a remarkable ecosystem that sustains us. Yet with warming the seas, a phenomenon called “coral bleaching”—a sign of mass coral death—has been accelerating around the world, and the public has little idea of the scale or implication of the catastrophe silently raging underwater. Jeff Orlowski, director of "Chasing Ice," which created irrefutable, visual proof of the melting ice caps, has made a similarly evidentiary and powerful film. "Chasing Coral" taps into the collective will and wisdom of an ad man, a self-proclaimed coral nerd, top-notch camera designers, and renowned marine biologists as they invent the first time-lapse camera to record bleaching events as they happen. With its breathtaking photography, nail-biting suspense, and startling emotion, "Chasing Coral" is a dramatic revelation. It took more than three years to shoot--the result of 500+ hours of filming, submissions of footage from volunteers from 30 countries, as well as support from more than 500 people from various locations around the world.
There is no charge to attend the movie; advance sign-up is requested, but not required. Register online at www.bernardsvillelibrary.org and follow the link from Adult Programs, or call the library at 908-766-0118 to sign up.
