BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonder and the beauty of nature colors begin to change in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & TEEN PROGRAMS
Tot Trek
Tuesday, October 29 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Children age infant to 5 with a parent will meet with their strollers at the starting line for a leisurely walk along the trails of Lord Stirling Park to enjoy the natural beauty of fall in New Jersey.

Wednesday, October 30 from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M
Children age 4 to 6 will discover how spooky and scary bats, spiders, and
owls really are. Costumes are welcome!

The Green Team
Saturday, November 2 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Children ages 12 to 15 who have to fulfill a community service
requirement for school will enjoy the educational and fun activities
at the Environmental Education Center.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS
Birding 101
Saturday, November 2 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Family and friends age 8 and older will join a Naturalist to learn the basics
of birds – do they all lay eggs, fly, and have feathers.
Fee is $6 per person.

Sunset Hike – NEW!
Saturday, November 2 from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.
Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist and venture out into
Lord Stirling Park as the sun begins to set, enjoying the fresh air
and discovering what happens as the sky darkens.
The program is Free.

Shall We Dance
Sunday, November 3 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Family and friends (age 6 and older) will hike to the “Dance Floor,” a beautiful area along the headwaters of the Passaic River to search
for river otters, beavers, ducks, and other river dwellers.
Fee is $9 per person.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch
Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
